In November 2024, voters placed their trust in me to represent Ward 2 on the East Bay Municipal Utility District Board of Directors. Since then, I have focused on protecting safe, reliable water, investing wisely in the infrastructure our communities depend on, strengthening environmental stewardship, and listening to the people EBMUD serves.

Investing in Safe, Reliable Water

I have prioritized the long-term investments our water system needs. A major example is EBMUD’s Walnut Creek Water Treatment Plant Pretreatment Project, which will help safeguard drinking water quality and strengthen reliability as wildfire impacts, algae blooms, heavy runoff, climate change, and drought create new challenges.

The Board has also continued investing in aging pipeline replacement, treatment-facility modernization, earthquake resilience, wildfire prevention, and wastewater systems that protect San Francisco Bay.

Listening to the People Who Keep the System Running

One of the most rewarding parts of serving has been visiting EBMUD facilities and meeting the engineers, operators, maintenance crews, biologists, scientists, customer service professionals, and other frontline employees who make this work possible. Every visit deepens my appreciation for the expertise and teamwork required to deliver reliable water every day.

Protecting Our Environment

I support EBMUD’s proactive monitoring, inspections, and other safeguards to keep invasive golden mussels out of our reservoirs and protect vital water infrastructure.

Following back-to-back record salmon runs in 2023 and 2024, more than 10,500 Chinook returned to the Mokelumne River in 2025, supporting natural spawning and helping the hatchery reach its egg-production goal.

Planning Responsibly for Tomorrow

Strong financial stewardship must go hand in hand with the investments required to maintain a reliable public water system. EBMUD has completed its largest solar installation, generating about 10 million kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity each year while offsetting nearly 10% of the District’s energy costs.

Connecting With Ward 2 Communities

Good public service begins with listening. Since joining the Board, I have met residents throughout Ward 2 at community events, neighborhood festivals, educational programs, and EBMUD outreach activities.

I have encouraged the agency to expand public education and community engagement so more families understand where their water comes from, how wastewater is treated, and how all of us can be better stewards of our natural resources.

Climate change, aging infrastructure, and increasing demands on our water system require thoughtful leadership and careful stewardship of public resources. I remain committed to keeping ratepayers’ long-term interests at the center of every decision.
